July 25, 2023

Suspect: Craig Stevenson, 30, Boise

Charges: Aggravated Battery (F), Kidnapping (F) -2 counts, Resisting and Obstructing (m)

On July 25, 2023, around 2 a.m. Boise Police responded to a local hospital for a report of a stabbing victim.  Officers learned the victim had been stabbed earlier at a residence on the 900 block of E. Holly Street. Additional officers responded to that scene and located a man matching a description of the suspect, Craig Stevenson.  Upon contact, the suspect fled on foot, with officers giving chase.  After a brief foot pursuit, officers took Stevenson into custody and discovered that he was in possession of a weapon (knife).   Detectives from the Boise Police Violent Crimes Unit and personnel from the BPD Crime Lab also responded to assist with the investigation.

During the course of the investigation, evidence showed that two victims, a man and a woman known to the suspect, were held against their will in a residence for several hours.   Just before 2 a.m., evidence shows the suspect attacked the male victim causing significant injuries.  The male victim and the female victim were ultimately able to escape and self-transport to the hospital.  The male victim is in stable condition at a local hospital.

The suspect, Craig Stevenson, was also taken to a local hospital for an unrelated medical condition before being cleared and booked into the Ada County Jail on the listed charges.

“I am grateful my officers were able to safely take a violent subject into custody in this case.  All officers and BPD Crime Lab personnel investigating this incident performed admirably under difficult circumstances, ultimately apprehending a dangerous felon who had only recently been released from prison when he committed this violent act,” said Chief Ron Winegar.
