On December 13, 2023, around 2:00 am Boise Police responded to a report of a robbery at a business on the 2400 block of S. Vista Ave. Preliminary information showed that the suspect was wearing a mask and indicated he had a weapon when he demanded cash from an employee at the business. Officers quickly began to secure the scene and begin an investigation. Officers established a perimeter, launched an unmanned aerial vehicle and the Meridian Police Department assisted with a K9 unit. Less than an hour later, Boise Police officers located a subject matching a description of the suspect. Following further investigation, the suspect, Richard Shaeffer, was taken to the Ada County Jail and booked on the listed charge.
BPD is providing a general location for this incident because we do not identify victims and in this case, the business that was robbed is also a victim.
