August 24, 2023

Arrested: Ahmed Abdulhamza,  23, Boise

Charges: Kidnapping in the first degree (F), Rape (F), Attempted strangulation (F), Aggravated Assault (F), and unlawful possession of a firearm (F)

On Tuesday, August 22, 2023, Boise Police, with support from the Nampa Police Department, arrested Ahmed Abdulhamza in Nampa on multiple charges.  Officers had been searching for Abdulhamza since August 20, 2023, when they began investigating a report indicating several violent crimes.  Evidence shows that on August 19, 2023, the suspect unlawfully entered the victim’s home. The victim is an adult female known to the suspect.  The suspect was reportedly armed and assaulted a male victim before forcing the female victim into a car and eventually to a home at another location.  Evidence also showed that the suspect continued to threaten and attack the female victim and she was able to get away on August 20, 2023.  The victim was treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Boise Police officers deployed multiple resources over the next two days looking for the suspect.  On Tuesday, officers received information indicating the suspect was at a location in Nampa.  Abdulhamza was arrested without incident and booked into the Canyon County Jail.

“These were very significant crimes of violence committed against members of our community, and from the moment BPD officers learned of them, we made the apprehension of Mr. Abdulhamza a top priority, deploying a significant number of resources in the effort. My sincere thanks to the many officers from various BPD teams, including patrol officers, detectives, Neighborhood Contact Officers, and our Special Operations Group, as well as our partners in the Nampa Police Department, for their work and help in safely taking the suspect into custody in this case,” said Boise Chief Ron Winegar.
