Continuing our efforts to reach out to the community in new ways, the Boise Police Department is launching a podcast. The podcast is called “The BPD Beat” and will cover a variety of topics with the goal of helping community members get to know department staff, better understand Boise Police’s community liaison work and learn more about the department’s values.
“We look forward to this next opportunity to let the community get to know our officers and the work we do,” said Boise Police Chief Ryan Lee. “We have a front row seat to so much that happens in Boise and this is a great way to share those stories.”
Each episode will feature a different guest and will cover a variety of topics. Boise Police invites the community to tune in to hear new information and stay up to date on what is going on inside the department and in Boise.
The podcast is hosted by Boise Police Department Captain Matt Bryngelson. Captain Bryngelson leads our patrol division and has been with BPD for over 22 years. He is also a former radio DJ and is enjoying mixing these two roles. Four episodes are available in the initial release, with more planned in the coming weeks and months. The four podcasts out now are about our K9’s, the Gang Unit, Traffic enforcement and a recently retired long time Boise Police officer.
“As we get further into producing this podcast, we plan to be more topical with our content and guests,” said Captain Matt Bryngelson. “We anticipate introducing you to more officers, explaining some of the specialty units you might see out on the street, as well as talk about recent events that stood out to us, or that made the news. We can also talk about cold cases in Boise and share important information with our listeners.”
