The first person has been arrested following the protest at City Hall on Tuesday, June 30.

Following a Boise Police Department investigation, Boise City Prosecutors issued an arrest warrant for Robbie Ciolli this morning. He turned himself into the Ada County Jail a short time ago. As we have previously stated, officers have investigated several videos and other pieces of evidence following the protest on June 30. Idaho law now requires officers to seek arrest warrants before making physical custody arrests for certain misdemeanor crimes not committed in their presence, unless there is a person willing to make a “citizens’ arrest.”
Several cases have now been submitted to the Boise City Prosecutor’s office for review and consideration for warrants. If and when future warrants are issued in these cases, officers will be following up and working to take subjects with those warrants into custody.
Boise Police want to once again remind anyone going to future protests that officers will work to stop violence of any kind, as well as property damage, and may make immediate arrests for crimes committed in their presence. We will also work to hold those responsible for any violent act or vandalism accountable under the laws of the State of Idaho and City of Boise. We strive to protect everyone’s right to peacefully assemble and exercise their first amendment rights. This includes working with any and all protest organizers to facilitate these rights, while remaining neutral on various political issues. Our department’s priority is to create a safe place for all who intend to peacefully exercise their rights and we do not condone violence by any party in these demonstrations.

Boise police have identified the subjects shown in the pictures provided in the news release on July 2, 2020. The investigations that have concluded are being routed to the prosecutor’s office for possible misdemeanor charges.
Additional reports came in earlier this week from possible victims and those reports are still under investigation.
