Police, Fire and Paramedics respond to water rescue

October 20, 2023

Around 4:00 today, October 20, 2023, Boise Fire, Boise Police, and Ada County Paramedics responded to a water rescue at Quinn’s Pond. Witnesses reported a 66-year-old man was paddle boarding when he went under the water and did not resurface.  Boise Police officers in the area immediately went into the water to look for him and the Boise Fire Dive Team continued the search.  Around 5:20 p.m. dive team members recovered the victim and paramedics and firefighters performed life-saving measures. The victim was taken to a local hospital but sadly he did not survive.  There are no signs of foul play and the death is under investigation as a likely drowning.  The Ada County Coroner’s Office will determine an official cause of death and will provide the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.

In addition to Boise Fire’s dive team, three engines, one truck, one Battalion Chief and the Technical Rescue team also responded to the scene.
